As part of the Accelerate Green program this week, our team got a chance to see Bord Na Mona’s contributions to biodiversity in alignment with its sustainability targets.
To discover more about this we made a visit to Lough Boora Discovery Park which covers 2,000 hectares of cutaway boglands. This once industrial peat production landscape has undergone a remarkable transformation, shifting from a vast expanse of industry to a restored wetland and woodland sanctuary. Lough Boora now stands as a testament to environmental resilience, providing a haven for an array of Irish wildlife. The extensive rehabilitation efforts have elevated the area into habitats of high ecological value, leading to a resurgence of species native to the area.
It’s a striking reminder that it’s never too late to embark on your sustainability journey and contribute to the wellbeing of our environment and planet.
